Bhubaneswar, November 21(Odisha.in) The 18th Livestock Census Seminar for Eastern States was held at the hotel New Marrion, Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
Dr. Hrusikesh Panda, IAS, Principal Secretary to Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Dept.Govt. of Orissa welcomed the representatives of Eastern States such as West. Bengal , U.P., Bihar, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Jharakhand, Chhatisgarh & Orissa.
Later he briefed about the objectives of Livestock Census. Sri O.P. Misra, Advisor (Statistics) ,Govt. of India made the introductory address and made a review of the activities relating to translation and printing of manuals, schedules, updatation of Permanent Location Code Numbers, Selection of Enumerators, Supervisors & Trainers, Publicity materials, Scrutinization of data, Payment of honorarium in the field Statewise.
There was interaction of the Participants, any constraint, if any, in the field was duly discussed and delegates of Bihar Mr. Mrutyunjaya Thakur, Jitendra Sinha of Jharkhand, Dr.Rudra Pratap from Uttar Pradesh etc. have submitted their census data and progress made in their States.
Sri O.P. Mishra advisor Govt. India, appreciated the progress made in Orissa & Chattisgarh especially in this regard.
Chief Veterinary of 30 Districts of Orissa, officers of Fisheries ARD Deptt., Dr.S.R. Patnaik CGM, Cuttack Milk Union and officers of OMFED have participated in this seminar.
In the concluding part of the seminar decisions were taken for effective implementation of Livestocks Census in Eastern States in particular.
Shri B.P. Sethi IAS, Director of AH&VS, Cuttack, Orissa, made discussion on Progress of Census districtwise in Orissa.
Later ‘GHAR’ a documentary film written, Produced & directed by Dr. H. K. Panda, IAS, CMD Omfed was shown to the participants, who praised the endeavour of Dr. Panda in accelerating the Clean Milk Production Programme
in the state during the period 2004-2006.
This helps boosting dairy development activities in the State. S.N. SWAIN General Manager, Centrally Sponsored Scheme of OMFED gave vote of thanks to the Participants present on the occasion.
