Bhubaneswar, November19 ( Odisha.in) Orissa Assembly on Monday the first day of the winter session witnessed noisy scene and was adjourned twice before the lunch hours.
As soon as the House started, members passed resolutions condoning deaths of former M.L.A.s Barada Prasanna Kanhar, Raja Saheb Trilochan Singh Deo, Bhimsen Mandal, Rameswar Sinha Nayak, Jagannth Tripathy, Bhagaban Bhoi , Sashi Bhusan Pradhan and Kunal Pradhan, a sepoy of Indian Army.
When Speaker Maheswar Mohanty announced for the question hour, Leader of Opposition J.B. Patnaik stood up and demanded debate on the alleged police excess on the farmers and teachers of the State.
Soon members from the treasury bench stood up and opposed Patnaik’s proposal. Then the trouble started. The opposition members who were carrying some placards condemning the police atrocities on farmers and teachers, female foeticide, spurious drugs racket, gang rape at Konark etc. displayed those and went inside the
well.
Many of the treasury bench members also walked into the well condemning the opposition action.
As it was not possible to run the House smoothly the Speaker had to declare the House adjourned for 45 minutes.
As soon as the House met after expiry of the adjourned period, the opposition again renewed their demands for discussion on police excess on farmers and teachers and shouted slogans. Among such noisy scene the Speaker again adjourned the
House till 3 P.M.
The Supplementary Budget of the State would be tabled on Monday as per the schedule.
