Balasore, November 16 (odisha.in) The members of All Orissa Central Cooperative Bank Employees’ Federation (AOCCBEF) across the staged a day-long agitation on Friday in protest against the apathetic attitude of state government towards the cooperative bank employees.
The employees of the Cooperative bank are irked over the lack of promotional avenues, appropriate salary, recruitment and other basic facilities.
Thousands of employees demonstrated before their respective banks with their ten-point charter of demands.
Their demands included equal dearness allowances (DA) to all central cooperative bank employees, 50 percent merger of DA, payment of house rent as per honourable court order, en-block amendment of staff service rule, incentive to CCB employees and withdrawal of ban order for fresh posting and promotion.
They also demanded enhancing the refinance by NABARD for crop loan, government deposit with cooperative bank, inclusion of new treasury head for recovery of cooperative dues and repeal of section-80 P of income tax act.
“The state government preaches that cooperatives are the basic strength of agriculture in the state. But it is this sector which is most neglected and none is looking to the employees of the Co-op banks,” alleged Arun Dey, president of the federation.
“The strike was observed in 17 banks across Orissa and the response was overwhelming,” said State secretary Bishnu Mohanty.
“Even though the government has been apprised with our demands much before but it is not paying any heed towards it. We would go for an indefinite cease work agitation if the government fails to meet our demands,” Mohanty warned.
