Bhubaneswar, Nov 14 (Odisha.in) State Government has decided to appoint Sikhya Sahayaks as regular teacher in vacant posts with pay protection by relaxing the existing recruitment norms.
” On completion of nine years on contract, the Sikhya Sahayaks would be appointed as regular teachers in Primary Schools against the vacant posts with regular scale of pay”, official sources said.
With the Sikhya sahayaaks threatening to go on indefinite strike demanding regular appointment, the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Tuesday ordered the Secretary School and Mass Education department to relax the existing norms of recruitment.
The government has also ordered the department to start the process of regularization of the services of the Sikhya sahayaks who had completed nine years on contract, the sources said.
Besides, as per the relaxed engagement rules, the Sikhya Sahayak’s after completion of five years as para-teachers would be treated as contractual teachers with increased monthly remuneration of Rs.3,600,which is equal to the basic scale of pay of a trained regular primary teacher with Matric C T qualification.
At present, one Sikhya sahayak is getting Rs.3000 as monthly emoluments after four years and Rs.3500 on completion of seven years.
The relaxed norms of engagements and recruitment would be effective with immediate effect, the sources said.
In order to achive the goal of universalisaton of elementary education and to improve the quality, state government has engaged 37,196 para-teachers called Swechhasevi Sikhyasahayak against the vacant posts of primary and upper primary school teachers with a fixed remuneration on contractual basis.
