Bhubaneswar,Nov 08 (Odisha.in) Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has urged the Orissa High Court to take steps for establishment of two high court benches at Sambalpur and Berhampur, extending support to the long standing demands of the people in the region.
Patnaik on the eve of Diwali shot off a letter to the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court , Ashok Kumar Ganguly requesting to take appropriate steps to set up two of it’s benches one each at Sambalpur covering Western Orissa and Berhampur in the Sourthern Orissa.
To make good his contention clear Patnaik referred to the Jaswant Singh Commissions recommendation and said,” it is quite justified to have High Court Benches at Sambalpur and Berhampur”.
Since majority of the population in the two regions comprise of tribal and poor people, it has been a costly affair for them to come to Cuttack to attend the High Court frequently”
