Jajpur, October 27 (Odisha.in) A Central team led by A.S Goel visited the distrct of Jajpur and made an assessment of the losses caused by the July, August and September floods this year.
The team, accompanied by the district officials visited many areas of Bari, Barachana, Dasarathapur, Jajpur and Korei blocks of the district and interacted with the flood affected people regarding the relief and rehabilitation measures provided by the administration.
The team assessed the extent of losses and damages to agriculture and reviewed the damages to road communication, houses, breaches in the embankments and crops.
The team also inquired from the affected people regarding job cards of NREGS works in the area.
The team while enquiring about the modalities of allotment of housing assistance under IAY, urged the Additional District Magistrate, accompanied the team in absence of the district Collector to allot houses under IAY scheme which have fully collapsed during the calamities.
The team also enquired regarding the compensation provided to the victims for damages caused. The team directed the collector to take necessary steps in order to enable the victims to undertake an alternative crop since the earlier crops were washed away.
The team asked the concerned department head to make operational the defunct Lift Irrigation points. The team will also have discussion with all district level officers and department heads regarding the aftermath of the flood situation and rehabilitation measure.
