Jajpur, October 14 (Odisha.in) Tension prevailed in the campus of Nilachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) in Jajpur’s Kalinga Nagar after some members of a workers union ransacked the office of some top officials over payment of bonus on the eve of Durga puja.

The situation brought under control after NINL management begged an apology to the KNSS office bearers.
According to reports, NINL management made an agreement with the KNSS over payment of bonus to its employees on the eve of Durga puja on Wednesday.
As per the bilateral agreement, the regular employee would be given Rs.10, 000 for puja bonus while other including casual and contractual employees would get Rs.1700 each, the sources said.

According to Pratap Kumar Jena, the Secretary of Kalinga Nagar Shramik Sangha, “NINL management has been adopting an unfair labour practice.
NINL management made an agreement with our Sangha, the lone and recognized labourers’ union of the plant on puja bonus on Wednesday as per the 2006 trilateral agreement among NINL management, Labour commissioner and labourers’ union.
Later, the same management made the same agreement with a so-called, unrecognized and self styled labourers’ union and the latter took advantage out of the illegal agreement.
Our men got angry over the NINL management for such illegal practice and ransacked their offices and broke furniture and fixture. Our men restrained from the vandalism after GM (personal) and Personal adviser begged an apology. “
When contacted, Jajpur Superintendent of Police, DS Kute said, “No FIR has been filed by the NINL with the police in this regard.”
