Bhubaneswar, October 11 (Odisha.in) Tata Steel in collaboration with Pathani Samanta Planetarium is organizing the Young Astronomer Talent Search (YATS).
All students of Stadard 8 to 10 from any school in Orissa are eligible to participate in the talent search.
The YATS will be conducted in three stages – The first stage of YATS has already started. Under which the students have to prepare an abstract (with in 500 words) on any subjects related to astronomy and space science and submit with their respective heads of the institutions.
The heads of the institutions will send the same to Tata Steel or Pathani Samanta Planetarium before October 15, 2007. In the second stage, the short listed students will be called for the zonal camp and those selected in the zonal camps will be invited to participate in the state level camp.
The zonal camps will be held at Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Jajpur, Bhubaneswar, Koraput and Berhampur and the state level camp will be organized at Bhuibaneswar.
The students participating in the zonal and state level camps would be reimbursed the actual expenses. About 100 students would be invited to each zonal camp.
Out of these 600 students participating in the six zonal camps, 150 students would be invited to attend the state level camp at Bhubaneswar.
The best 10 models of the state level camp would be awarded on the eve of the 173rd anniversary of Mahamahopadhyay Chandrasekhar Singhsamant Harichandan Mahapatra popularly known as Pathani Samanta on December 13, 2007.
