Keonjhar, October 10 (Odisha.in) People of Nandapur village under champua block, about 50 kilometers from Keonjhar remembered Saheed Goutam Pradhan a village man who died on October 9 , 2002 in a mine blast in Kashmir.
Pradhan a resident of the village worked for Indian army and died when he was on duty. He is survived by wife Kalpana Pradhan, father Gangadhara Pradhan, Mother Lachhamani Pradhan and elder brother Sudhansu Sekhar pradhan a retired Army.
After death of another elder brother Somanath Pradhan a jawan of central reserve police force (CRPF) Goutam had joined in his job.
Villagers have formed “Saheed Smruti Committee’ and have been remembering him on his birth day and death anniversary every year. The village has also a statue of the fighter.
On Tuesday the residents paid tribute to the departed soul by garlanding flowers on his statue, organizing meeting. The meeting attended some prominent people including by Gourahari Naik, member of legislative assembly, Patna, film star Naina Das.
