Bhubaneswar, October 10 (Odisha.in) Milk and other products of Orissa State Cooperative Milk Producer’s Federation Limited (OMFED) will soon be available in at petrol pumps outlets run by Indian oil corporation across the state.
Deputy General Manager marketing of OMFED Basant Mishra Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with P. Dey deputy general manager of Indian Oil Corporation at Hotel New Marrion, Bhubaneswar, public relation officer of the federation S.C.Tripathy told Odisha.in.
The deal was signed in the presence of the federation’s chief managing director cum chairman Dr. Hurshikesh Panda, he said.
OMFED is an apex level Dairy Cooperative Society registered under Cooperative Society Act – 1962. It has come into existence to integrate the milk producers in rural areas with consumers in the urban areas with an enterprising aptitude.
Its main activity includes promoting, production, procurement, processing and marketing of milk & milk products for economic development of the rural farming community in Orissa.
It is currently producing milk & milk products, horticulture products, Kandhamala organic products and cattle feed.
The first outlet of IOC where the products have been made available for sale is Bhamra IOC Petrol Pump at CRP Square, Bhubaneswar.
This will help to the visitors, foreigners, local consumers and distant passengers to carry the products at odd hours in reasonable price, the federation chief Dr. H.K. Panda said.
OMFED is striving hard to improve the socio-economic standard of poor milk producers of the state by proving extra Re.1/- per liter of collected milk by charging this to the urban population from Nov. 1st, 07. He said the federation is committed to maintain its quality.
Panda said federation will employ 5 lakh members in cattle rearing and also provide 5000 no. retailers on commission basis in the state within these years.
Due to waiving of milk holiday, OMFED has achieved 4 lakh liter collections per day and marketed the entire stock to the consumers. Due to maintaining of high quality, we have also established 40 to 50 per cent market share in state in comparison to other states in the country.
OMFED is garnering profits in consecutive 4 years which is directly distributed to the farmers.
