Bhubaneswar , Oct,09 (Odisha.in) To improve the existing poor health and sanitation Facilities Orissa would go for grass-root level health planning by forming Village Kalyan Committees in each village.
“The Village Kalyan Committees to be constituted soon with the respective Ward members as its head would be entrusted with the job of Village Health Planning, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.
Paatnaik who reviewed the implementation of the central sponsored National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in the state here on Monday said that conception of the village health committee was to synergize the rural masses to take care of the Infants and mothers , to help prevent the dreaded diseases like, Malaria, TB, and Leprosy etc.
The Paramedical staffs like Asha, working in rural areas, would be provided special Training so as to combat the onslaught of the common but dreadful diseases like Malaria and Diarrohea in rural areas, said the Chief Minister adding, the district health authorities have been asked to complete the training by March 2008.
With large number of posts of paramedical staffs are vacant posing a serious Problem to the health services in the state, the Chief Minister has directed to fill-up the vacancies expeditiously, said sources in the Health department.
Chief Minister has also asked to convene the district health committee meeting regularly and the review meeting of the NRHM at the state-level at least twice a yea to take stock of the performance, the official said.
During the review it was revealed that sixty per cent of the earmarked funds for the NRHM in the state have been spent.
