Jagatsinghpur, October 8 (Odisha.in) Hundreds of people Monday demonstrated in front of the office of the district collector here demanding inquiry into the irregularities of distribution of rice provided to people under below poverty line by the government.
The agitators led by local MLA Umesh Swain alleged that poor people are purchasing rice from open market at the rate Rs 12 to Rs 13 due non availability of BPL and other rice.
This is happening even if the government has supplied BPL rice at the rate of Rs 6.30 and Rs 3 under Antodaya and Anapurna yojaya respectively, he alleged.
Vice president of Zilla Parishad Charulata Mohanty, and other congress leaders also joined him in the protest. They together submitted a memorandum to district collector.
