Balasore, Oct 6 (Odisha.in) The Jaleswar district inspector (DI) of schools in Balasore district has suspended Urmila Jena, headmistress of Palasahi UGME school on Friday for dereliction in duty.
On Thursday afternoon at least 20 students of the school fell ill after they consumed mid-day meal. While three of them were serious and admitted in the hospital, the rest discharged after preliminary treatment.
Following the allegations of the parents of the students, the DI has placed the headmistress under suspension.
According to the parents, the ‘dal’ served to the students was unhygienic and not consumable. “Even though the headmistress was aware about that, she allowed to serve the food cooked out of the spurious dal,” they alleged.
The parents however have demanded a male teacher as a headmaster of the school as it has around 430 students in seven classes.
