Kendrapada, October 3 (Odisha.in) Thanks to the right to information act, an employee of the Kendrapada College was shocked to know recently that the college authority declared him ‘dead’ five years back and abolished his post though he was alive and working in the college.
56 years old Ratanakar Nayak works as a store-keeper in Zoology department but he has not been getting his salaries since 1998. The college authority says that he had gone on leave from 9th, March, 1998 to 13th, April 1998 without informing the principal.
But Nayak said he was on leave as he was ill. He has evidences that the college had granted him that.
In spite of repeated request he did not get his salary and had moved the High Court seeking its intervention into the matter.
The court directed the education department to sort out the matter within three months as a result the director of higher education in its letter no- 6C-191-IV-99 dated 23. 6.2000 directed the principal of the college to take immediate steps for payment of all the arrears of Ratnakar as well as current salary.
He was disappointed when it also did not work. Nayak then filed a petition under Right to Information Act before the principal to get all the papers from the college authority regarding his service.
I was shocked to know that the college principal informed the director of public instruction (DPI) higher education department that I died in 2002 and my post was abolished from 2003.
