Balasore, Sept 30 (Odisha.in) The Balasore Co-operative Urban Bank (BCUB), which was running loss, has registered significant growth within past one year.
Talking to the media persons on Saturday, president of the bank Jyotiskar Mohapatra said, “The bank has received Rs 2 crore in terms of fixed deposit and savings since last September and around 1200 new members have been registered while the total share has crossed Rs 4 lakh within this period.”
Mohapatra who took over the charge of the Bank on September 29, last was seen overwhelmed with the growth of the bank within this short period.
“While we have been able to add Rs 1 crore more to our working capital making it a total Rs 19 crore, there has been significant achievement in terms of loan recovery. Within last one year Rs 1,80,50,525 has been recovered from loanees,” he informed.
The bank also has financed Rs 2.87 crore to 1036 persons in business and house building sectors.
Besides the computerisation, overall modernization of the bank has been done and customer care facilities improved while one extension counter has been opened at Motiganj in the town.
“We will have two more counters at Nilagiri and Januganj Golai near Remuna shortly,” Mohapatra said.
The president added that the bank, which is running in a building on rent, has plans to purchase its own land and construct a new office building besides opening its branches in other areas of the district.
Among others bank secretary Anang Das and other senior officials were present during the press conference.
