Bhuabneswar, Sept 29 ( Odisha.in ): Outbreak of suspected cholera in Talcher area of Angul district has created panic among the people.
While one person has already died of the disease as many as five others have been admitted into Kanhia Medical under Kaniha block.
Those who have been admitted for treatment include Punia Pradhan (65), Dhuba Pradhan (52), Pramila Pradhan (40), Saru Sahu (48) and Arakhita Sahu (42).
According to Maheswar Sahu, M.L.A. Talcher, the disease may assume epidemic form if preventive actions are not taken up immediately.
He alleged that most of the medical and para medical staff under Talcher assembly constituency has been transferred by the chief district medical officer (C.D.M.O) Anugul, as a result there has been shortage of staff to treat the patients and carry on dis-infection of the contaminated water sources.
