Cuttack, September 22 ( Odisha.in ) The seize work strike by the junior doctors of S.C.B. Medical College Hospital continued for the fourth day on Saturday, causing lots of inconveniences to both indoor and out-door patients.
The Junior Doctors, Specialists did not attend the patients despite appeal by Surech Chandra Mohapatra, Revenue Divisional Commissioner, on behalf of the Government.
The members of the Medical Teachers’ Association also joined the seize work agitation supporting the causes of the junior doctors.
Trouble had started inside the medical college hospital campus on Wednesday, when the friends and relatives of a patient had assaulted the junior doctors, hospital staff and had ransacked the casualty department damaging machineries and equipments worth about Rs 40 lakh.
After this incident the junior doctors demanded adequate security for them and other staff members of the medical college and the hospital including that of the patients.
Despite deployment of two platoons of police inside the campus, the junior doctors as well as the hospital staff were not satisfied.Because of total collapse of service facility in the hospital, a number of patients have shifted to nursing homes, while poor patients who can not afford treatment in private nursing homes were perishing without treatment.
During visit of Odisha.in team to the hospital on Saturday evening a number of patients and their relatives complained of total failure of administration in the hospital, which have added to the miseries of the patients.
