Bhubaneswar, September 22 ( Odisha.in ) Orissa Government has decided not to pay sustenance allowance to Director General of Police ( Home Guard ) Bidyabhusan Mohanty who has been placed under suspension for unauthorized absence from duty and is not traceable for over about two months.
Earlier the department had recovered Rs 50,000.00 from Mohanty’s bank account and salary for payment against the surety bond he had executed to get Bitihotra on parole from Alwar jail.
Mohanty, the senior most Orissa cadres IPS officer is in trouble since his only son Bitihotra Mohanty, convicted for 7 years by a First Track Court of Rajsthan for raping a German student, has jumped parole.
A court in Rajsthan have issued Non-Bail able Warrant (NBW) against Bidyabhusan on the charges of abetting his son to escape from jail and jump parole in November last year and had sought Orissa Government’s help in arresting Mohanty by executing the NBW.
But before the Orissa police could swing into action to arrest Mohanty for producing him before the court in Rajsthan, Mohanty proceeded on leave to escape arrest.
Finding no way out the Orissa Government refused his leave and placed him under suspension fixing his headquarters at the police headquarters in Cuttack.
According to provision, when a Government servant is placed under suspension, he is eligible to get sustenance allowance. Since Mohanty’s where about is not known the State Government has to stop payment of such allowance to him according to sources in the Home Department.
