Bhubaneswar, September 21 (Odisha.in) Tension ran high in the capital hospital in Bhubaneswar following death of a patient allegedly due to negligence during treatment on Friday, a police official told.
As soon as the death news spread, irate relatives of the patient and public went berserk and ransacked some portion of the medicine ward. They also attacked a nurse injuring her seriously.
Hospital source said, the patient was admitted on Thursday night. His relatives however alleged that he died only because of the negligence on the part of doctor and medical staffs attending him. They demanded immediate action against the erring doctor and nurse.
The employees of the however resented the way the public attacked one of their colleges and ransacked the hospital.
They staged demonstration in front of the hospital for over five hours on Friday demanding police arrest of the culprits and round the clock security inside the hospital campus.
Their agitation however was withdrawn after Health Secretary assured them to look into their demands.
Police have detained three persons in this connection.
Meanwhile, the State government on Friday evening has declared 24-hour security deployment inside the capital hospital campus.
