Bhuabneswar, Sept. 20, ( Odisha.in )The elephant calf which lost its mother in a train accident near Bansapani railway station, located at a distance of about 10 kilometers from Joda in Keonjhar district and was rescued by a local tribal Rasik Munda, has been shifted to Nandankanan zoological park for treatment and rehabilitation.
Dr. Ranjit Kumar Samantaray, the Veterinary Doctor of the zoo is treating the 4 month old calf.
Talking to Odisha.in Dr. Ajit Patnaik, Director of Nandankanan said that the calf have no visible external injuries. But it seems to in stress for being separated from its mother and transportation covering a long distance. He hoped that the calf would be brought back to normalcy within a short period.
