Sonepur, September 14 (odisha.in): Tension gripped Binika Community Health Centre (CHC) and agitators blocked the busy Sonepur-Binka Rampur Road on Friday for about six hours following death of a girl allegedly due to the negligence of a Paediatric doctor.
Reports said, one Sulkuna Bhoi (16) of village Manigaon under Binika police limits was admitted in the CHC on Thursday night in critical conditions.
Paediatric specialist of the CHC Dr. Birendra Kumar Dharua attended and treated Sulkuna and left for his house in the midnight.
On Friday morning, Kulamani Bhoi, father of the girl rushed to the house of the doctor after conditions of Sulkuna deteriorated. However, it is alleged that the doctor ignored the plea of Bhoi and refused to attend his daughter.
Instead, the doctor prescribed medicines for Sulkuna and it is said she died after taking the medicine.
No sooner the news of death spread, irate inhabitants of Manigaon and Sindurpur rushed to the CHC and later blocked the road disrupting vehicular movements on the road.
Later, Sonepur Sub-collector Mihirchand Mallik and Sonepur CDMO Biswanath Sarangi rushed to the spot and pacified the mob after assuring them of stringent action against the doctor.
Meanwhile, Binika Police have registered a case against the doctor and autopsy of the body has been carried out.
