Sambalpur, September 14 (Odisha.in) The Sambalpur District Central Co-operative Bank Limited (SDCCBL) has dismissed seven of its employees of charges of embezzlement of funds.
While five of the dismissed employees were posted at the Sohela Branch in Bargarh district, two others were posted in its branch in Jharsuguda district.
The dismissed employees have been identified as branch head Makardhwaj Barik, supervisor Akshay Motari, assistant supervisor Dharmanand Barik, accountant Sachidanand Barik and junior clerk Kiroti Pradhan of Sohela Branch.
Reports said that the officials had complained of a dacoity in the Sohela Branch in March 2005 and had reported it in Sohela police station that the dacoits had decamped with Rs. 10.08 lakhs.
However, investigation into the incidents revealed the involvement of the bank staffs in the entire episode and they were suspended and cases registered against them.
While the matter is subjudice, the recruitment committee of the bank comprising Bank President Sukanta Dash, Secretary Manas Ranjan Pattnaik and Deputy Registrar Chittaranjan tripathy decided to dismiss them.
Similarly Branch Head Subrat Sinha and Krushnarjun Pattnaik of Jharsuguda Branch have been dismissed after they were found to be embezzled with Rs 3.50 lakhs. Those dismissed however have been directed to deposit the amount embezzled by them.
