Sambalpur, Sept. 13 (Odisha.in) Patients suffering from sickle cell and Thalassemia will be provided with free medicine and free blood transfusion at the Sambalpur District Government Hospital.
This was mooted by the Vice Chairman of Red Cross Society, Sambalpur. Dr.Narayani Panda and Sudhir Pujari of Utsarga has been entrusted to prepare a list of patients.
This was decided in the General Body meeting of the Red Cross Society, Sambalpur on Tuesday.
The meeting presided over by Sambalpur District Collector L N Nayak also mooted to open a medicine bank at VSS Medical Burla and Nayak was empowered to co-ordinate with District Collectors of other district and initiate steps in this direction.
The house also decided to empower the Vice Chairman with financial power upto Rs. 10,000 to avoid inconvinience to poor patients with the Chairman and District Collector remaining preoccupied and tied down with official work.
