Baripada, September 6 (Odisha.in) Authority in Orissa’s Baripada circle jail Thursday provided some vocational training inside the jail that made the prisoners happy.
At least 680 inmates in the jail got trainings to produce various items that have commercial value using grass, clothes, wax, bamboo and leaves.
Mr. Sibdash Chand superintended of jail said this will help prisoners to make various products. It will also make them self dependent, he told Odisha.in
The prisoners are already producing some traditional items in side the jails and earning money. The new training will strengthen their skill further, he said.
They are already procuring products made of sabai grass, incense sticks, ropes, mates and decorative items, he said.
The prisoners have opened at least a hundred pass books where their earnings of about four to five thousand rupees every month are being deposited, he said.
“I will provide some financial support to my family and will give educational support to my son and daughter”, said Dyarika Nath Nayak a under trial who is providing trainings to his colleagues prisoners on the making of various items using sabai grass.
Dara Singh alias Rabindrapal Singh a convict of murdering Australian missionary Graham Start Staines and his two minor sons Philip and Timothy said that he never feels any tension and forget his family while he is working with his brothers (prisoners) in jail.
