Bhubaneswar, September 1 (Odisha.in) Chief secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy Saturday formally launched official portal of the Orissa government in a specially organized function in the state secretariate at Bhubaneswar.
The launch of www.orissa.gov.in is a highly ambitious initiative from the government to go the smart way through this dynamic content driven portal for dissemination of information in real time to people around the globe, secretary of the information and Technology department of the state government S.N. Tripathy said explaining the main features of the website.
With the inauguration of the new portal, each and every department will have the privilege to manage their own information and display the same to the public with standard page lay out and common link structure.
Citizens can get government press releases and informations about various government projects & scheme from the site. Each department will also be able to update news on a daily basis.
The web portal contains more than 5000 pages of information. Some of the other features of the web portal are department telephone directory, online tenders, department wise notification and circulars with dynamic content management facility.
The dynamic content management facility of this portal ensures continuous and timely updating of information.
The Portal will have Administrators for every department to manage their contents. The look and feel of the web portal is considered to be one of the best in the country as far as government institutions are concerned.
This portal that took 3 months to build up also marked the standardization of official website of the state government for all times to come, official said.
The colour , fonts and the content has been documented for managing future & archived information in a structured manner to give the citizen the ease to search required content. The website was a joint effort of IT Department & its partner CSM technologies.
The state government is also making efforts to make the site bilingual. Senior officers of the government of Orissa, particularly IT department and OCAC, were present on the occasion.
