Jagatsinghpur/ Kendrapada, August 31 (Odisha.in) Chief Managing director and chairman of Posco India Sung Sik Cho Friday faced protest during his first visit to the proposed plant site in Orissa’s Jagatsinghpur district.
Hundreds of villagers including many women demonstrated in front of him shouting anti Posco slogans when he visited along with company officials to affected Nuagaon and Gadakujanga villages.
While company officials said that Cho visited Nuagaon , Gadakujang , Noliashai and interacted with the local people anti Posco leaders alleged that pro posco supporters clashed with them and assaulted as many as 12 people.
However no body has lodged a complaint with the local police. It was the first visit of Cho to the proposed site after the signing of mou between Posco and Orissa government in 2005.
