Balasore, August 30 (Odisha.in) At least four persons including three women were allegedly beheaded at Pratapur under Nilagiri police station in Balasore district by villagers for allegedly practicing black magic.
Police sources said, on August 14, Raju Singh, son of Siba Singh, a village ward member died of snake bite.
The villagers suspected witchcraft by four local persons. After the 11 days death rituals of the dead boy was over the villager organised a meeting and called the four persons to the meeting place.
In this kangaroo court the villagers ordered to behead the four persons including three women. Soon it was executed. The incident happened on August 26 night, but it came to fore after three dead bodies found from three separate places in the district on Thursday.
The dead women are identified as Tia Singh 40, Budhini Singh 42 and Somabari Singh, 42 all women and the male is identified as Soren alias Rabi Singh 48. Rabi Singh is the husband of Tia Singh, Nilagiri circle inspector of police Santosh Dash told Odisha.in.
Meanwhile, police have registered four separate cases and investigating into the whole incident. After the news spread in the locality, most of the residents left the village fearing police arrest.
“We have detained ten persons in this connection. Efforts are on to arrest the killers,” Balasore SP PS Ranpise said.
