Bhubaneswar, August 29 (Odisha.in) Orissa governor Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare has appointed Madhu S Mishra a professor at Indian institute of management (IIM) Kolkata as the new vice chancellor of Sambalpur university.
He will succeed Pradip Chandra Tripathy, Raj Bhaban sources said.
Mishra was working as the professor of sociology group. He is trained in the disciplines of Economics, Sociology and Development Administration.
Before joining the IIM he worked in the Planning Commission, Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, Shriram Centre for Industrial Relations and Delhi University.
While in these organisations, he has conducted a number of studies and published reports and manuscripts in the area of social aspects of planning, impact of science and technology, commercialisation of agriculture, rural labour and sociology of economic development.
His current interest among other include management of rural development, Small-scale enterprises, Population and Health Services, Agricultural Modernisation, Rural Industrialisation and Developmental Administration with particular emphasis on the Eastern and North East Region and has conducted a number of studies in these areas.
