Bhubaneswar, August 29 (0disha.in) More than 1,700 casual employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) here Wednesday threatened to to go on indefinite strike from September 4 to press their long standing demands.
Raghunath Nayak, General Secretary and Suresh Panigrahi, President said in a joint statement that all the over 1,700 casual employees of BSNL Orissa circle have been deprived of minimum wages and facilities like Employees Provident Fund , Employees State Insurance.
Nayak and Panigrahi pointed out that while the BSNL casual employees in Delhi and West Bengal circles are drawing the minimum wages of Rs 6, 100.00 and Rs 3,900.00 respectively in Orissa circle such wages have not been made effective till date. They threatened to continue the strike till their legitimate demands are fulfilled.
