Bhubaneswar, August 27 (Odisha.in) Members of Social Welfare Association and Right Action for Justice ( SWARAJ ) Monday demonstrated near the Income Tax Commissioner’s office here and blocked the National Highway No.5 , to protest against the move by Rajasthan and Orissa Governments to arrest Director General of Police (Home Guards) Bidya Bhusan Mohanty.
Talking to Odisha.in Ritanjali Pradhan, Secretary of the organisation said that while 35 prisoners have jumped parole in Rajsthan and 42 in Orissa, neither of the Governments have realised the security amount from the securities or have filed F.I.R. against them, while in the case of B.B. Mohanty they have taken vindictive steps.
Even after realising Rs 50,000.00 security amount from Mohanty, the Rajasthan police have filed cases against him and have obtained Non Bailable Warrant from the court to arrest him, which amounts to violation of civil rights of senior police officer Mohanty, the activists alleged.
