Rayagada, August 27 (Odisha.in) Large number of health and administrative officials Monday visited the diarrhea and cholera hit regions in Orissa’s Rayagada, Koraput and Kalahandi where the waterborne diseases have killed over 80 persons in past one and half months making thousands ill.
While 48 people have died, more than fifty persons are still under going treatment at Kashipur government hospital in Rayagada district.
Similarly at least 26 persons have died in Dasmantpur block in the district of Koraput six persons have died in the villages under Lanjigarh block in the district of Kalahandi.
The agricultural minister Surendra Nayak with a host of officers visited the diarrhea affected area and assessed the situation Saturday. On the same day health secretary Chinmoy Basu also visited the area.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik along with large number of officials and health minister Duryodhan Majhi visited the region on Monday.
Similarly a three member central team led by Director of National Institute of Communicable disease (NICD) Delhi Dr.Shiv Lal visited the Kashipur block in Rayagada Monday.
