Cuttack, August 23 (Odisha.in) Life in Orissa’s Cuttack city was affected Thursday following dawn to dusk bandh called by Left parties and Samajwadi Party for deteriorated civic amenities in the city.
Hundreds of activists of both the parties staged demonstration at different places of the city including at the national high way number 5, forced shops, private and government offices, a senior district police official told Odisha.in.
They sat infront of the office of Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI) at Bidyadharpur and infront of the offices of the All India Radio (AIR) and Press Information Bureau (PIB) and prevented their employees to enter inside,
Movements of four wheelers and three wheelers including private and government buses were stopped for several hours, he said.
The Cuttack city faced water logging due to the recent floods triggered by heavy rain. The local civic administration failed to tackle the crisis even after so many days, a demonstrator said.
We want resignation of city Mayor Nibedita Pradhan. We also want better care of the city residents, he said.
