New Delhi, August 21 (Odisha.in) Though Orissa is stuck by floods in many parts of the state, it seems the Congress leaders are more concerned with who is going to make it to the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief.
There are over three dozens of leaders camping in New Delhi for the last week to campaign against Jaydev Jena, the present incumbent.
Those have thrown their hat into the ring are K C Lenka, former Union minister and three times PCC chief, Ram Chandra Rath, Chiranjeev Biswal and Niranjan Patnaik.
While the J B Patnaik’s loyalists are pitching for Niranjan Patnaik, the former chief Sarat Patnaik is lobbying for Ram Rath.
A group of young leaders notable among them, Sarat Rout, Sujit Padhy and others have been lobbying hard for Chiranjeev Biswal.
On the other Lenka is banking on the support of his old-time loyalists like Jagannath Rout. All leaders belonging to different camps have been staying at Orissa Niwas and Orissa Bhavan.
But their spirit to lobby for their respective leaders dampened after the Left’s threat to the UPA government over the Nuke Deal.
As the top congress central leaders are worried over the future of the Manmohan Singh government, the Orissa leaders feel this is the right time to remove Jayadev Jena.
The congress high command may consider a young face this time particularly the one who has shown his strength and skill in the past, a senior congress leader told Odisha.in guessing the moods of senior national leaders of the party.
