Bhubaneswar, August 20 (Odisha.in) The special relief commissioner of Orissa government Nikunja Sunder Ray does not know how many people have been affected in the latest round of floods.
The latest round floods triggered by a low pressure in Bay of Bengal have marooned hundreds of villages in several coastal districts including the northern Orissa’s Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur.
According to sources the floods have affected more than half a million people killing at least one person. The situation has remained grim on Monday.
“I don’t know. Ask collectors” this was the reply of Ray Monday in response to a question a journalist asked him over telephone to know about the status of latest floods.
The journalist who telephoned the commissioner is of international repute and he was shocked when he got such a lighter reply from a senior officer like Ray who has been appointed to lead the relief and rescue operation in the state.
He was also so rude that that he just disconnected the mobile without even showing minimum courtesy to say sorry I don’t know as if the journalist was inquiring some thing for his personal gain, the journalist told Odisha.in.
