Bhubaneswar, August 18 (Odisha.in) The Crime Branch has arrested an international fraud Gadadhar Sahu and one of his associates in Bhubaneswar. They were produced in a local court on Saturday.
Sahu, owner of Anu Nuts and Foods, which was processing and exporting cashew, has been cheating several firms of Australia and Luxemburg by providing low quality cashew.
A CB official said, Sahu had received two contracts, entailed an amount of US $ 1, 30,000, from the companies of the European Union and Australia.
The Australian High Commission and the Ambassador of Luxemburg have brought the incident to the notice of the government of India, which subsequently informed the Orissa government to take legal action.
Accordingly, the Crime Branch was asked to take up the case, and they arrested the accused in Bhubaneswar.
“Sahu provided all kinds of misinformation about his company in the website and lured the international firms. He entered into an agreement to supply cashew nuts to these companies. But the nuts sent to them were found unsuitable for human consumption,” told the investigating official.
“The nuts were moth-eaten and already damaged before reaching the destination. The European Union rejecting the stuff disallowed the unloading of the materials,” he added.
