Bargarh, August 17 (Odisha.in) Dozens of villagers were injured in Orissa’s Bargarh district Friday after police resort to lathicarge on them when they refused to move from a road they had blocked to protest against police inaction into the deaths of two school children in their village school.
The dead bodies of the children one of class two and another class three were found in the local school at Kumelsingha village, 36 kilometers from here on 12th May this year.
Villagers alleged it as a case of murder and had requested police to nab the culprits.
Although more than two months have been passed police has failed to nab the culprits, villagers alleged.
The irate villagers blocked the National High Way number 6 Friday morning and were protesting police inaction. They were demanding crime branch probe into the incident, a district police official told Odisha.in.
As a result of which road traffics were badly hit and hundreds of vehicles had to stop on the road. Police requested the villagers to clear the road. After they refused police resorted to lathicharge to disburse them, he said.
At least 40 villagers have sustained injuries. Top district and police officials have rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
