Keonjhar, August 17 (odisha.in) A tusker allegedly killed at least six persons in Orissa’s Keonjhar district over past eight months, local said Friday.
The tusker who is living in the forest near Roida village often comes out to NH-215 between Joda- Barbil mining areas in search of food and attacks human.
The elephant allegedly killed a man on Monday night near Thakurani basti village under Barbil forest range. The man was identified as Chaitanya Naik (40).
According to the sources on Monday night the tusker entered into Naik’s house late night and ate food grains. The elephant crushed Chaitanya to death while he was trying to escape, villagers said.
Earlier this year the tusker had killed a cyclist in Karo Basti village near Belkundi, again a person at Guali village and a truck driver at Bhadrasahi village.
The mammal had also killed recently a class four employee of Mining department in Baneikala, and a motor cyclist near Barbil.
