Jajpur, August 16 (Odisha.in) Punjab National Bank (PNB) which is the first national bank of India and a premier public sector bank in the country announced to open at least ten new branches in Orissa by end of this fiscal to expand its business network in the state.
The bank has sought the permission from the Reserve Bank of India for setting of up theese new branches, especially in rural and semi- urban areas of the state, Bimal Prasad Sharma, The Zonal Manager of the bank in Bhubaneswar told Odisha.in.
Sharma was at Haripur hat in Jajpur district to inaugurate the Core Banking Solution (CBS) system of the branch bank this week.
Majority of our branches in Orissa are rural based and are situated in semi-urban areas. At present 31 out of 56 branches in this state have been brought under the purview of Core Banking Solution system and rest all the branches in the state will be covered under CBS system by December this year” he said.
Senior Manager, Hemanta Kumar Panda and Haripur hat branch manager, Pravat Kumar Srivasta were present during the inaugural function.
