Bhubaneswar, August 16: How much a person can be greedy for power? Just see this.
An unmarried girl in Orissa’s Jagatsinghpur district filed her nomination papers for the ongoing cooperative society election only to enjoy power of politics.
More interestingly, she mentioned her brother as her spouse in the nomination paper.
Reliable sources said, the girl, who belongs to an other backward caste (OBC) and a resident of Mohammadabad in Bodhei gram panchayat under Tirtol block, filed her candidature from zone No-6 to contest the election for the Bodhei Seva Cooperative Society claiming herself as a married woman.
Her rival candidates fighting for the post brought the matter to the notice of the election officer after the facts came to the fore two days back.
They have demanded to take against her for giving misleading information in her affidavit.
Secretary of the Bodhei Seva Cooperative Society, Sarat Mallick, however, told odisha.in that in the voter identity card name of the girl’s brother was wrongly written as that of her husband.
“As per the poll guidelines, the voter identity card is the authentic document for a person to file his or her nomination paper. Taking advantage of this, she filed her nomination paper showing her brother’s name as that of her spouse,” he said besides assuring to inform his higher authorities for stringent action against her.
