Jagatsinghpur, August 16 (Odisha.in) Anti Posco activists detained twenty five officials of the state irrigation department in a local temple in Orissa’s Jagatsinghpur district for about three hours, an anti Posco leader said Thursday.
The official led by local executive engineer Niramal Pradhan Wednesday visited Jatadhari mouth to study non release of rains water that had allegedly caused water logging in more than 35 panchayats in the district.
Posco officials visit frequently to this area by a red Travera vehicle and officials of irrigation department also visited using same vehicle.
Believing their engagement on Posco work villagers detained them at local Mahabir temple of Nugaon village for three hours, anti Posco leader Abahya Sahoo told Odisha.in.
Protestors released them after the officials promised that they will not visit the area again, Sahu said.
