Bhubaneswar, August 14 (Odisha.in) Orissa government on the eve of the Indepdence Day Celebration finalised a Special package for farmers the tune of around Rs.500 crores.
The Chief Minsiter Naveen Patnaik would make the formal announcement of the sop
for the farmers while taking salute at the state-level Indepednece Day parade in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
Full of concessions and incentives, the package, which was finalised at a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Monday, envisages provision of reduced power tariff for agriculture at Rs.1 per unit against the existing Rs.1.20.
Others include, subsidy to the tune of Rs.5000 to 30,000 farmers in tribal areas for purchase of diesel pump sets for irrigation purposes, 50 per subsidy for use of bio-fertiliser in agriculture in each of the 314 Blocks of the state, an official of the state Agriculture Department told Odisha.in.
Of the package, Rs.135 crore will be spent to increase agricultural production in coastal districts through Watershed mission and to attract the people towards
Agriculture in tribal dominated KBK areas an amount of Rs.72 crore has been earmarked while for the tribal areas of Northen Orissa comprising of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sundergarh provision of Rs.50 crore has been made, said the official.
For the development of Horticulture, the state government has also made Provision to involve at least one lakh educated youths by ensuring incentives through the package, sources said adding at least 1000 farmers would be imparted training on the modern farm techniques.
