Baripada, August 12 (Odisha.in) Jharkhand Mukti Murcha (JMM) leader and local MP Suddam Marandi on Sunday urged Orissa government to conduct raids in his home district of Mayurbhanj to stop the circulation of fake medicines which he alleged are widely prevalent.
Many registered and unregistered retail shops and wholesalers are involved in the fake medicine trade. Even there are large number of cases of female foeticides.
Police and health officials are not taking action because they are having unholy nexus with them, he alleged.
Health care in the district is in shambles and quacks are playing with the lives of people. The posts of the doctors are laying vacant in most of the government hospitals in the blocks and district headquarter.
Citing examples he alleged that in hospitals located at Bahalda, Rairongpur, Karanjia, Bisoi and Udala do not have additional medial officers.
He demanded that the local drug inspector should also repeatedly check the medicines particularly those are coming from neighboring states of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar and Chhatisgarh.
